WINE & CHEESE TASTING

Following a very timely flypast by the magnificent Vulcan bomber (see picture right) villagers were treated to a Tutored Wine Tasting by Master of Wine and village resident John Hoskins.  John applied his extensive knowledge of wines to
de-mystify the world of wine by cutting through the jargon and presenting the wines in a down to earth way.  He guided guests through a selection of six wines in a very relaxed tutored tasting.  John’s humorous talk on highlighting the various elements of ‘tasting’ entertained an audience of 40 guests on the warm but slightly blustery Sunday afternoon in the historic Palace Gardens. 

The delightful wines were complimented by four Artisan cheeses from the Stamford Cheese Cellar  Karen talked us through the four cheeses; a creamy Somerset Brie followed by Cote Hill Blue a local cheese from Lincolnshire, Cropwell Bishop Stilton a a very delicious Godminster Cheddar.  Karen highlighted the character of each of the cheeses and gave a brief talk on Artisan cheese making.
